USA Network’s Anna Pigeon Scores Early Season 2 Renewal Ahead of Hit Debut Finale

There is a lot more wilderness crime on the horizon for viewers. Just as USA Network approaches the highly anticipated first-season finale of its breakout hit Anna Pigeon—airing on Friday, October 9—Deadline has confirmed that the network has officially handed the series an early renewal for Season 2.

The swift greenlight comes as little surprise given the massive ratings wave the drama has ridden since its debut. Anna Pigeon launched with numbers that broke records for the cable channel, officially securing the title of the highest-rated original series premiere on USA Network in eight years.

Into the Wild with Nevada Barr’s Beloved Character

Based on the celebrated, long-running mystery novel series by author Nevada Barr—who drew from her own real-life experience working as a park ranger—Anna Pigeon follows its titular urbanite heroine after her life is shattered by the tragic murder of her husband. Seeking a profound change of pace and an escape from city life, Anna heads west to Glacier National Park to start fresh as a park ranger.

Unfortunately, she quickly discovers that the majestic, untamed wilderness hides far more dark secrets and criminal activity than she ever anticipated. Navigating the treacherous terrain requires every ounce of her sharp investigative prowess to stop the lawlessness lurking beneath the park’s scenic exterior.

A Stacked Ensemble and Creative Powerhouse Behind the Camera

Filmed on location in scenic Alberta, Canada, Anna Pigeon is an American-Canadian co-production developed through a collaboration between USA Network and the Canadian media conglomerate Bell Media.

Led by its star in the title role, the series features an impressive, star-studded ensemble cast. The supporting and recurring roster includes Paulina Alexis (Reservation Dogs), Ronnie Rowe (The Porter), Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica), Kim Coates (Sons of Anarchy), Crystle Lightning (Fancy Dance), Cooper Levy (Murdoch Mysteries), Manuel Rodriguez-Saenz (The Big Cigar), Ryan Northcott (Mystery, Alaska), Nikki Rae Hallow (High School), Jordan Sledz (Heartland), and Melanie Scrofano (Star Trek: Strange New Worlds).

Behind the scenes, the creative direction is anchored by showrunner Morwyn Brebner (Rookie Blue) and director Lea Thompson (Back to the Future). Both Brebner and Thompson also serve as executive producers alongside Brett Burlock, Sonia Hosko, Todd Berger, Julie Di Cresce, Tom Cox, Jordy Randall, Peter Emerson, and Gordon Gilbertson.

With a second season already locked in before the finale even hits screens, fans can dive into Friday night’s final episode knowing that Anna Pigeon’s rugged Montana adventures are only just getting started.
