Yet, Kyle has a psychological edge he can exploit. In her own twisted, fractured way, Patty genuinely cares about Jack. She felt deep remorse for almost killing him, a tragedy she narrowly avoided. Conversely, she has never harbored any affection for Victor. To Patty, Victor was simply the man who paid her extremely well to orchestrate the elaborate yacht ruse that successfully broke up Jack and Diane’s relationship in the past.
A Risky Soapy Gamble
Of course, any plan involving Patty Williams carries immense risk. Patty’s former partner in crime, Dr. Laurence Markham, is still out there. While having a character like Markham step in to help Patty escape prison or beat her legal charges might be a hard pill for viewers to swallow, watching Kyle try to convince Patty to actively hunt Victor is a different story. It is a setup that makes complete, delicious soap opera sense.
If Kyle succeeds, he will have successfully turned Victor’s most unstable creation against him, leveling the playing field in the eternal Newman-Abbott war. But if Patty’s mental state fractures further, Kyle’s weapon could easily misfire, putting Jack and Diane right back in the line of fire.
