GH Spoilers: Josslyn Consumed by Regret After Telling Liesl a Devastating Lie About Cassius
A suffocating blanket of guilt, government cover-ups, and massive regrets is currently crushing Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy), threatening to completely compromise her standing in Port Charles. According to recent General Hospitalspoilers and updates, Josslyn is experiencing a severe case of buyer’s remorse after actively throwing Cassius Faison (Ryan Paevey) under the bus. Following a tense and emotionally draining confrontation with a grieving Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati), the weight of Josslyn’s fabrication is beginning to eat her alive, leaving viewers wondering if her conscience will force her to come clean before the shocking truth about Cassius’ true fate is exposed.
A Web of Lies and Tears for a Presumed-Dead Agent
The driving force behind Josslyn’s sudden downward spiral is the sheer magnitude of the lie she delivered to Liesl. Consumed by a mix of fear and conflicting loyalties, Josslyn falsely informed Obrecht that it was Cassius who shot her, going on to assert that he was the mastermind behind all the recent chaos. In reality, the destruction was entirely the doing of Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes).
After telling this massive falsehood, Josslyn was instantly filled with overwhelming guilt and regret. The gravity of her betrayal hit her in a wave of nostalgia, forcing her to flash back to one of the final things Cassius had ever told her—reminding her that he always kept his promises. With tears welling up in her eyes, Josslyn looked up toward the heavens. Imagining him somewhere in the great beyond, she whispered a desperate apology, hoping against hope that he could somehow hear her remorse from wherever he was.
The WSB’s Twisted Fiction and Z’s Secret Deal
Of course, the central tragedy of Josslyn’s torment is that she is operating with completely false information. Neither Josslyn nor anyone else working in the lower levels of the WSB has any idea that Cassius is actually alive. Given the life-or-death circumstances he faced, Cassius would have been crazy not to take the lifesaving deal offered to him by the mysterious Z (John Oliver). Z granted Cassius a definitive chance to save his own skin, provided he agreed to enter his employment and work directly for him.
While no one currently knows the exact nature of what Z has in mind for Cassius’ corporate or underworld duties, the assignment will likely take place overseas. It seems highly probable that his operations will be based out of Geneva, Switzerland, where Z’s main headquarters is located, but it is certain that he won’t be operating anywhere near Port Charles.
Cassius brings a lot more to the table than just standard undercover tactical training and basic henchman skills. He possesses a highly specialized intellect, especially considering his father notoriously made him memorize the periodic tables during his upbringing. This leaves several questions regarding his current state of mind. Did Z ultimately answer Cassius’ burning questions about whether his mother was okay, and does he officially know that his sister is still alive? It is possible Z gave him those answers, or perhaps not. If Cassius has unmonitored access to the internet in his new environment, he has probably already utilized his skills to find the answers to those family questions himself.
Valentin Issues a Warning as Josslyn Braces for the Future
Back in Port Charles, Josslyn’s immediate future looks incredibly bleak as long as she carries this secret. The profound guilt over her lies concerning Cassius is bound to eat her up inside every single time she crosses paths with Liesl, and it will hurt even worse whenever she interacts with young James West (Gary James Fuller).
As far as Josslyn knows, Cassius perished in the field. She was intentionally excluded from the classified details of his survival, as the official, heavily sanitized WSB story claims that both Cassius and Cullum died during the operation—with the agency falsely painting Cullum as the true hero of the story!
Josslyn knows that narrative is an absolute fabrication, and she isn’t the only one. Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) is also fully aware of the deception. Valentin previously called her out on the lie directly, but since he is a seasoned former spy himself, he understands how the dark machinery of intelligence agencies operates sometimes. Still, the emotional toll may prove too heavy for Josslyn to bear indefinitely. Viewers are left wondering if she will eventually give into her conscience and confess the truth, and if so, who she will choose as her confidante.
Chances are, she might end up revealing the deception to her immediate boss, Jack Brennan (Chris L. McKenna), since he doesn’t currently know the entire story either. Alternatively, the show may be setting up a much larger twist for the future. Someday down the line, Josslyn is bound to encounter Cassius within the WSB network at some point, meaning she may eventually find herself delivering that tearful apology to Cassius himself, face-to-face!
