A shocking death at the Metro Court has kicked off a gripping murder mystery in Port Charles, leaving fans desperate for answers. Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna) was recently discovered dead inside the hotel pool, igniting an exciting whodunit loaded with potential twists and turns. While the circumstances surrounding his tragic end seem chaotic on the surface, the lingering clues suggest something far more sinister took place than a simple accidental drowning.
Drugged Drinks and the Metro Court Pool Fall
The chain of events leading up to Brennan’s demise began when Ava Jerome (Maura West) spiked his drink with drugs at the direction of Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison). Visibly disoriented by whatever substance he consumed, Brennan was seen frantically pushing elevator buttons shortly before his life came to a sudden halt.
While it remains technically possible that Brennan wandered off the elevator in a daze, stumbled into the pool, and drowned on his own, that outcome would hardly satisfy standard soap opera drama. Furthermore, it feels pretty extreme for a simple sleeping pill to put a seasoned agent into such a helpless state.
Instead, it seems far more likely that someone seized the opportunity to give the impaired man a fatal push—and perhaps even held him under the water to finish the job.
Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) naturally comes to mind as an immediate suspect given that she publicly threatened Brennan recently. However, her loud, highly visible outburst might make her a little too obvious of a culprit for the writers to pick.
Chris McKenna Reacts to Exit and Pitching Willow Cain
Speaking on his departure from General Hospital, actor Chris McKenna expressed high hopes for the lingering story arc, sharing that he hopes “this generates months of riveting television around ‘Who killed Brennan?'”
McKenna even pitched an intriguing twist of his own, suggesting that Willow Cain (Katelyn MacMullen) should be revealed as the killer and officially level up to “full-on murder.”
Unfortunately, there is a major hole in that theory. Willow was sitting at the Metro Court bar with Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) during the entire sequence of events. She was already drinking with Britt before Brennan ever left Ava’s table, and she appeared to still be at the bar with her when Brennan met his watery fate.
Beyond her solid alibi, Willow actually needed Brennan alive, as she was counting on him to provide crucial blackmail material to keep her enemies under control.
Besides, Willow simply cannot be the culprit in every mystery the show constructs. Viewers will recall that Willow was previously revealed as Daisy Gilmore’s (Brenden and Evelyn Beimford) stalker before being unmasked as Drew’s shooter. It certainly feels like it is time for a new character to step into the villainous spotlight.
Mentally Unstable Agents and Rogue WSB Operatives
If Willow and Nina are ruled out, several other compelling suspects emerge. Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) stands out as a strong candidate given her current mental instability. Driven by ongoing hallucinations, Anna could easily have been directed by the phantom of “Peter August” (Wes Ramsey) to add Brennan to her fatal victim list.
Another angle points to the WSB wanting Brennan eliminated entirely. However, if the agency called the hit, one would expect the job to have been handled far more cleanly. The WSB typically knows how to eliminate a target without leaving a trace, which is an important detail to keep in mind as the investigation unfolds.
That said, Tristan Roberts (Dean Geyer) has been openly clashing with Brennan over demanded reports, meaning the show could potentially play up the former WSB field agent as a prime suspect down the line.
Recast Rumors and Mysterious Masterminds
The mystery opens the door to even wilder possibilities. Hudson Parker (Troy Lennon Appel) might be an option, as he is clearly carrying out orders for a larger villainous figure—perhaps someone like Jerry Jacks (last played by Sebastian Roché) or another classic nemesis. It seems plausible that Hudson’s boss wanted Brennan permanently removed and tasked him with getting the job done.
Additionally, online chatter has hinted at the potential for Jasper “Jax” Jacks (last played by Ingo Rademacher) to be recast. If Jax is not actually sailing around the world, could he have been vengeful enough over Brennan dragging Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) into the dangerous world of the WSB to sneak back into Port Charles with deadly intent?
Then again, a completely unexpected culprit could ultimately emerge as the primary suspect in this unfolding puzzle. Whatever the truth may be, upcoming episodes promise plenty of unexpected curveballs as the PCPD works to uncover who truly ended Jack Brennan’s life.
