General Hospital Comings and Goings: Maxie & Spinelli Exit as New Debuts Shake Up Port Charles

Port Charles is undergoing a massive cast shake-up, and fans were hit with a true emotional stunner this week as a fan-favorite family packed their bags. General Hospital blew viewers away by writing out Maxie Jones, Damian Spinelli, and their entire household in one sudden move. The sudden departure sends ripples through the canvas, paving the way for fresh debuts, aged-up teens, and unexpected status changes during the week of July 27-31.
A Heartbreaking Goodbye to Maxie, Spinelli, and Family
The shocking exit unfolded when Maxie called Michael Corinthos to deliver life-changing news: she and her whole family were leaving Port Charles to start fresh in Australia. As part of her sudden departure, Maxie sold off her share of Deception to her friend, officially closing a major chapter in her professional and personal life.
Behind the scenes, Kirsten Storms is taking time away to deal with some personal issues and is currently unable to be on set to film. Because of Maxie’s abrupt trip down under, her onscreen family had to exit the canvas as well.
This means Bradford Anderson (Damian Spinelli) has departed alongside the young actors portraying their children: Gary James Fuller (James West), Lily Fisher (Georgie Spinelli), and twins Riley and Miley Plonski (Bailey Lou Jones). Additionally, young actor Easton Winn, who temporarily filled in as a recast for James West over the past few weeks, has also officially wrapped up his brief run with the ABC soap.
Ethan Lovett’s Status Shift
In another casting update revealed in the credits on the Friday, July 24 episode, Nathan Dean, who plays Ethan Lovett, appears to no longer be on contract. Dean originally reprised his role as Luke Spencer’s son in April of this year.
However, dropping off contract doesn’t necessarily mean Ethan is leaving Port Charles or stepping out of storylines entirely. Instead, it indicates that he will remain on canvas in a recurring role, stepping back into the action whenever needed.
Fresh Faces and Major Debuts On Canvas
While the show bids farewell to several long-standing characters, a brand-new generation is stepping up to take center stage. Viewers were excited to see Kayden Brenna Tokarski make her debut as the new, SORASed (Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome) Scout Cain on the Monday, July 20 episode. Now fully grown and ready to stir up trouble in the local teen scene, it will be thrilling to see how Scout embeds herself in the upcoming Port Charles drama.
Looking ahead, fans can prepare for two high-profile debuts on Thursday, July 30. Soap veteran Kelly Kruger will step into the canvas to take over the role of Serena Baldwin in a fresh recast.
On that same day, actor Troy Lennon Appel makes his entrance as Hudson, a mysterious businessman who arrives in town actively searching for a specific Port Charles resident.
With two-week spoilers through August 7 hinting at shocking betrayals, deadly secrets, and stalker panic on the horizon, these new arrivals are dropping in right as the drama reaches a fever pitch.
