Days of our Lives Spoilers: Tragic Final Vows! Lexie and Abe Head Down the Aisle as EJ’s Sinister Traps Implode

A whirlwind of medical tragedy, high-stakes espionage, and cruel corporate frame-ups is set to fundamentally alter the lives of Salem’s legacy families. According to the Days of our Lives weekly spoilers update for July 20-24, 2026, emotional vow renewals will take place alongside a desperate scramble for survival. While Lexie Carver (Nikki Crawford) and Abe Carver (James Reynolds) prepare to walk down the aisle one last time, the walls are rapidly closing in on a panicked EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel). With Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) running out of time and a real-time conspiracy sending shockwaves through the canvas, Salem residents are getting it from all sides.

Echoes of Deception and Lethal Threats

The dark undercurrents of the DiMera family recently reached a boiling point when Kristen lost her composure upon finding EJ visiting young Rachel Black (Lorelei Olivia Mote). Once Rachel left the room, the hostile siblings traded vicious, veiled threats. EJ coldly warned Kristen that her time was officially running out.

Unbeknownst to the rest of the town, Lexie is harboring a fatal secret. She confessed the truth about her terminal condition to Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall), extracting a promise that Marlena would remain silent and not tell Theo Carver (Tyler Joseph Andrews) or Abe. Lexie vowed that her family would not be forced to watch her slowly die again. Meanwhile, a worried Kristen made Marlena promise to step up for Rachel if anything should happen to her.

The physical toll of Lexie’s brain tumor became an immediate danger when EJ discovered her passed out on the floor of the DiMera mansion. Though she was still breathing, EJ was hit with another massive blow when Rita (Maggie Carney) informed him that Dr. Wilhelm Rolf (Richard Wharton) had skipped town because the FBI was lurking around.

Refusing to take Lexie to the hospital per her explicit wishes, EJ moved her to the couch. It was there that he outlined a sinister plot to Rita, vowing to banish Kristen to the DiMera Island for the absolute rest of her life. Lexie secretly opened her eyes and overheard the entire terrifying scheme.

Poisonous Accusations and a Mysterious Chess Game

As the days progressed, Lexie alerted EJ that she was awake, and he broke the news of Rolf’s sudden departure. Lexie vowed that a DiMera never dies quietly, even as her condition steadily worsened. Theo comforted his father by handing him Paulina Price’s (Jackée Harry) wedding ring, though things turned sour when Abe admitted he had actively worked with EJ to keep Theo out of the DiMera CEO seat. An upset Theo sought refuge at the Small Bar, while Paulina later advised Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens) to turn up the heat with Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman).

Johnny, however, was preoccupied with uncovering his father’s sins. He aggressively confronted EJ over his dark suspicions regarding arsenic and Chanel’s radiation-induced cancer. Johnny warned his father to keep him entirely out of his dirty deeds, though EJ tried to deflect blame onto Paulina.

Across town, a bizarre mystery began taking shape. Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes) was left disappointed when Foster (Miles Anderson) canceled their double date with Chad DiMera (Conner Floyd) and Belle Black (Martha Madison) to attend a Verdi concert. Marlena stepped in to accompany Julie, leading to a heartfelt discussion about moving on from John Black (Drake Hogestyn) and Doug Williams (Bill Hayes).

The real twist occurred when Chad and Belle went to leave the venue. A stranger mistakenly handed Belle a concert program, inside of which she discovered a hidden green piece of paper and a Lire coin featuring a distinct crest. Upon closer examination, the legal duo realized someone was playing a complex, dangerous chessboard game in real time.

Coriseal Cover-Ups, Planted Drugs, and a Sudden Kidnapping

Meanwhile, the hospital became a battleground. Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) informed Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) that the reason there was no arsenic in his water sample was because Julie had already decontaminate the well. Sarah grew deeply frustrated by the lack of physical evidence tying EJ to the tainted Coriseal deaths at DiMera Pharmaceuticals. However, Marlena realized that Cat (AnnaLynne McCord) was secretly looking into EJ, and she supplied Cat with critical intel regarding the ongoing cover-up.

A cruel trap was sprung when a hospitalized Holly Jonas (Ashley Puzemis) pushed Sarah away, furious that her family didn’t believe her claims of innocence regarding drugs. EJ cleverly manipulated the situation, visiting Holly to promise he would get Amy’s (Shi Ne Nielson) case against her completely dismissed. Sarah caught him in the room and kicked him out, prompting a stressed Holly to rip into her aunt.

The true depths of EJ’s depravity came to light when Holly requested Xander Kiriakis (Paul Telfer) bring her a bag from home for her discharge. This situation quickly escalated because even though Jason Morgan had previously been on the pier trying to save Britt Westbourne, he ultimately could not prevent the brewing family crisis from unfolding. Tate Black (Leo Howard) searched the bag Xander delivered and discovered a stash of drugs inside, which had been intentionally planted by EJ to frame the innocent teenager.

EJ’s triumph was short-lived, however, as Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans) informed him that the hospital board was officially revoking his ownership. Sarah and Xander took immense pleasure in rubbing the loss in his face, warning him that they knew he was behind the Coriseal crisis. Ironically, Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) was thrilled to learn the hospital was now hers. But as she made her way there, a masked man grabbed her from behind, covered her mouth, and dragged her away into the shadows.

The Romantic Fallout: Couch Surfing and Seductive Stalls

On the romantic front, drama erupted following a vehicular accident involving Joy (AlexAnn Hopkins) and baby Kelsey. Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) comforted Joy at the hospital, where Kayla gave the infant a clean bill of health. Thanks to Joy, Alex discovered that Stephanie Johnson (Abigail Klein) had maliciously deleted his voicemail. Stephanie tried to blame Joy for causing the wreck, but Kayla sharply shut her daughter down, warning her to control her reckless actions.

Joy later emerged wearing a sudden neck brace. Watching her struggle to carry Kelsey up the steps of the Brady Pub, a guilty Alex booked her a room at the Salem Inn. Joy played up her injury to keep Alex by her side overnight, which drove a furious Stephanie to drown her sorrows with Theo at the Small Bar. Stephanie invited a hesitant Theo to sleep on her couch for safety.

The next morning, Alex was furious to find Theo sleeping on his couch. Following an awkward confrontation, Alex and Stephanie engaged in a massive blowout over Joy. Stephanie finally admitted how deeply it hurts when he leaves to support his ex, but Alex reassured her that she is his only future. The two kissed and made up, while Abe and Theo similarly mended fences.

Look Ahead: Spoilers for July 20-24, 2026

As the new week dawns, the pieces of these separate crises will violently collide. On Monday, Gabi Hernandez leans heavily on Rafe while dealing with a Gabi Chic knock-off crisis. Meanwhile, Belle and Chad put their heads together and figure out that all the chessboard clues point directly toward Italy. At the same time, Leo Stark, who previously had an awkward run-in after spotting Javi and Gus making out, shares a difficult confession with Marlena, while EJ offers an apology to Cat, and a devastated Holly gets completely blindsided by Tate and Sarah over the planted drugs.

Tuesday brings a shift in strategy as Kristen reveals a desperate escape plan to Lexie after learning of EJ’s island exile plot. Simultaneously, Gabi delivers a shocking ultimatum to Philip Kiriakis and Xander at Titan, while Lani and Eli enjoy their anniversary, and Julie receives an unexpected apology from a recovering Foster.

Midweek developments on Wednesday feature Kayla extending an unexpected offer to Cat, while a fearful EJ expresses his deepest anxieties to Rita. In the meantime, Holly fiercely stands her ground about not taking drugs, while Leo and Gabi form an unlikely alliance, and a desperate Sarah turns to Xander for help once again.

The emotional climax peaks on Thursday when wedding bells ring through the tragedy, and Lexie and Abe officially exchange vows and rings. To close out the day, Alex receives crucial support from Chad, while Stephanie vents her frustrations to Belle.

Finally, on Friday, Xander and Sarah share a rare, peaceful moment together, while Kayla and Steve Johnson fear what dangerous threat is coming next. In a dramatic final turn, Johnny back-doors his father for a final confrontation, and Melinda Lau decides to step up and help Leo.

Will Lexie and Abe’s beautiful vow renewal be cut short by her aggressive tumor, or will she survive long enough to help Kristen escape EJ’s island trap? Can Chad and Belle solve the Italian chessboard mystery before the real-time game turns deadly?
