Nadia Bjorlin Explains Her Choice to Say No to DOOL
Bjorlin, who has played the opera-singing heroine on and off since 1999, made her last on-screen appearance in 2023. During a recent interview with Michael Fairman alongside fellow Days alum Kyle Pettis (ex-Theo Carver) to promote their new film Veronica & Julian, Bjorlin set the record straight regarding her current status with the daytime drama.
While online rumors have been swirling that former General Hospital star Sofia Mattsson (ex-Sasha Gilmore) might join the canvas in early 2027 to take over the role of Chloe, Days of Our Lives has confirmed nothing on that front. When Fairman brought up the internet chatter, Bjorlin handled the topic cautiously, stating, “Oh, I’m not allowed — okay, I can’t say anything [on that subject].”
However, Bjorlin was completely candid about her own standing with the production. She officially verified that show producers did reach out to ask her back to the canvas. Unfortunately, real-life circumstances prevented a reunion from materializing.
“But logistically, it just didn’t make sense,” Bjorlin explained.
The actress currently resides in Ireland with her husband, Grant Turnbull, and their two young sons, making the brutal commute to Los Angeles—where Days of Our Lives shoots—nearly impossible to balance with family life. Bjorlin admitted that having to turn down the offer was far from easy, sharing that it “hurt her heart to have to say no.”
Because of those geographical hurdles, Bjorlin made her position unmistakably clear: “So, I guess I can confirm that it will not be me playing Chloe if there’s a Chloe that comes back [laughs].”
How Bjorlin Truly Feels About a Potential Chloe Recast
The prospect of seeing another actress step into a role created and defined over two decades is often a delicate topic in daytime television. When asked how she would feel if Days of Our Lives moves forward with recasting Chloe, Bjorlin expressed total grace and peace with the situation.
She noted that playing Chloe represented a distinct chapter in her life, adding that she would wholeheartedly wish any new actress stepping into the part all the best.
“I’m okay because they did ask me and I said no,” Bjorlin admitted, acknowledging the comfort of knowing the show approached her first before pursuing other avenues.
Still, the emotional ties run deep. Bjorlin reflected fondly on her formative years spent on the L.A. set, pointing out the profound bond she still feels toward her daytime colleagues.
“Of course, it’s like, ‘Yeah, I grew up there. I feel like those were my high school/college years, and that’s, like, my family,'” Bjorlin shared.
Chloe’s In-Show History and Future Possibilities
Chloe Lane was last seen departing the little town of Salem back in 2023 alongside her former flame, Philip Kiriakis (John-Paul Lavoisier). The couple packed up and headed to New York City in hopes of giving their storied romance another genuine try. Sadly, off-screen life in the Big Apple did not work out as planned, prompting Philip to return to Salem on his own in 2024 without Chloe by his side.
With Philip currently back in Salem and navigating his own web of family drama, Chloe’s absence has left a noticeable void in the narrative. Bjorlin’s confirmation that she turned down a return contract makes it clear that if the writers intend to bring Chloe back to resolve her unfinished business, the character will inevitably sport a brand-new face.
