Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Leo Hunts for Answers in Gwen’s Vanishing Act

Just when she was on the verge of pulling off a game-changing power move to purchase University Hospital, Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) has abruptly dropped off the face of the earth. The sudden, high-stakes disappearance has left Salem in a state of shock, leaving her closest ally, Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart), utterly desperate to uncover the truth. Where in the world is Gwen, who made her vanish before she could fulfill her promises, and how far will her friends and the authorities go to bring her home?
EJ DiMera: The Obvious Suspect
Whenever a high-stakes abduction occurs in Salem, EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) is naturally at the top of everyone’s suspect list. EJ has a clear motive: he desperately wants to stop Gwen from buying the hospital and is willing to do whatever it takes to protect his interests. Given that EJ has already double-crossed Gwen once before, fans and Salem locals automatically assume he is the mastermind behind her disappearance.
However, in daytime serials, the most obvious suspect is frequently innocent—or being set up to take the fall. When Rita Lesley (Maggie Carney) recently informed EJ of Gwen’s vanishing act, he appeared genuinely shocked by the revelation. That authentic reaction leads to questions about Rita herself. Having served as an assistant to both Stefano DiMera (Joe Mascolo) and EJ, Rita has a history of stepping in and taking rogue actions before ever informing EJ of what she has done. Viewers are left wondering if Rita might have acted independently to snatch Gwen behind EJ’s back.
A Growing List of Dangerous Suspects
If EJ isn’t responsible, plenty of other Salem residents have powerful motives to see Gwen removed from the board. Former friend Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) quickly comes to mind; their bond completely dissolved after Gwen discovered Kristen was sleeping with Xander Cook (Paul Telfer) behind her back. Though EJ originally broke the news, it was only after Leo confirmed the affair that Gwen realized it was true, leaving fans to wonder if Kristen got rid of her competition to keep Xander focused on shielding her from EJ.
Dimitri von Leuschner (Peter Porte) also harbors intense resentment toward his ex-wife for good reason. Gwen previously orchestrated his kidnapping and kept him locked away in Alamainia for months, even writing Leo a “Dear John” letter so he could find love with Javi Hernandez (Jacob Martinez) before bringing Dimitri back to implode their wedding. With that kind of volatile history, Dimitri could easily be exacting his ultimate revenge by holding Gwen captive. Furthermore, fans know Salem has likely not seen the last of Madame Vivian Alamain, even though she is currently supposed to be dead. Faking her death is Vivian’s specialty, and if she requires Gwen for another grand scheme, kidnapping her might be the only way to make contact without revealing she is alive before she is ready to strike.
The Search Party Assembles
As the mystery surrounding Gwen’s location deepens, alarm bells are ringing across town. Gabi Hernandez (Cherie Jimenez), Leo, and Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) all find her sudden absence deeply disturbing, knowing she would never willingly abandon her hospital purchase at such a critical moment.
Refusing to sit idly by, Leo is firmly determined to get to the bottom of the mystery and find his best friend. He isn’t alone in his crusade, either; Melinda Trask (Tina Huang) and ISA agent Andrew Donovan (Colton Little) have officially joined the search efforts to locate the missing heiress. With official law enforcement agencies now involved, fans are waiting to see if the ISA can uncover the truth before it’s too late. Will Andrew and the team locate Gwen in time, or will her hidden evidence be used to bring EJ down first?
