Katrina Law Shares Emotional On-Screen Moment as Daughter Kinley Makes Her NCIS Debut

NCIS is keeping up its heartwarming legacy of family guest appearances in the most personal way possible. An upcoming episode set to air on November 10 marks a deeply special milestone for series star Katrina Law, as her seven-year-old daughter, Kinley, steps into the spotlight for her official acting debut.

In the long-running CBS crime procedural, real-life family connections are nothing new. Over the years, long-time viewers have watched Sean Murray’s daughter share the screen with her father, while Mark Harmon’s son famously stepped in to portray a younger version of Leroy Jethro Gibbs (a family tie that continues with Sean Harmon serving as an executive producer on NCIS: Origins). Now, Katrina Law gets to experience that rare on-screen magic alongside her own child.

Acting Across from Her Daughter: “My Favorite Acting Gig, Hands Down”

Speaking openly to TV Insider about the upcoming November 10 episode, Law didn’t hold back her excitement and pride as both a performer and a mother.

“It is my favorite episode of television that I’ve ever done,” Law revealed. “It is my favorite acting gig, hands down, the most beautiful experience, and it’s because I get to act across from my seven-year-old daughter, Kinley.”

In the episode, Kinley portrays Chloe Sims, a brave little girl who witnesses a crime. The role plays directly to Kinley’s real-life talents, as Law shared that her young daughter is fluent in Mandarin—a skill that takes center stage in her performance.

“She plays a little girl named Chloe Sims who witnesses a crime and my daughter happens to speak fluent Mandarin and she knocks it out of the park and getting to interact with her, it’s pretty amazing,” Law explained. “It was just beautiful. Going from Jessica Knight to proud mama, even within the confines of the scene itself, was just mind blowing for me.”

A Mother-Daughter Milestone on Set

For Law, who plays Special Agent Jessica Knight, stepping into a scene with her real-life daughter offered a completely unique emotional dynamic. The experience allowed her to shift effortlessly between her tough-as-nails investigator persona and her natural maternal pride, creating an intimate layer of authenticity within the high-stakes narrative.

Beyond the procedural mystery of the crime itself, the November 10 hour promises to deliver a distinct emotional tone that stands out from typical team investigations. Watching Agent Knight navigate a case centered around a young witness—played by her own daughter—gives viewers a rare chance to see Law showcase a deeply personal side of her acting range.

As the airdate approaches, fans will be tuning in to witness this special family milestone, watching young Kinley make her television debut while her mother watches on as both co-star and proud mom.
