Scheming Schemes and Entrapping Hearts
Salem is bracing for an intense wave of pre-sweeps shockers, packed with nerve-wracking secrets, high-stakes departures, and dangerous mind games as the show sets the stage for November. At the center of the immediate drama, Joy Wesley (AlexAnn Hopkins) manages a major victory when she convinces Alex Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson) to let her move in with him. Even Stephanie Kiriakis (Abigail Klein) gives her sign-off on the arrangement. However, living under the same roof brings a wave of anxiety for Joy, who must go to extreme lengths to conceal the truth about her fake paralysis.
Despite the constant risk of exposure, Joy convinces herself that she is on the cusp of winning Alex’s heart and securing the life she has always envisioned. But Alex might not be as oblivious as she thinks. Once Alex catches on to what is really happening, he could easily let Joy believe her ploy is working while secretly laying a cunning trap to catch her in the act.
Over at the DiMera estate, another high-stakes game of cat and mouse is underway. EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) decides to push past his lingering doubts regarding Cat Greene (AnnaLynne McCord) and asks her to return to work for him. Cat eagerly resumes her undercover efforts to bring EJ down once and for all, but viewers are left wondering if the ruthless businessman is actually playing her this time around. Regardless of who holds the upper hand, sparks will fly between the two, with spoilers confirming an upcoming kiss between EJ and Cat. Meanwhile, romance is also rekindling elsewhere in town as Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) and Javi Hernandez (Jacob Martinez) share a swoon-worthy kiss of their own, marking a huge step forward in their full-blown romantic reunion.
High-Stakes Departures and Shocking Tracking Plays
The tension ramps up significantly outside state lines when Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) tracks down Sophia Choi (Rachel Boyd) at a diner in Kentucky. Spotting a golden opportunity to further her own agenda, Kristen will not leave empty-handed. Spoilers indicate that Kristen returns to Salem with someone in tow, making it very likely that Sophia is forced to tag along for the ride.
Sophia’s sudden comeback in Salem could be the exact catalyst that drives Holly Jonas (Ashley Puzemis) and Tate Black (Leo Howard) out of town, as both characters are slated for an upcoming exit. They aren’t the only ones packing their bags, either. Chanel Dupree DiMera (Raven Bowens) and Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) are also preparing for a joint departure. Johnny faces mounting pressure over his latest mess involving EJ, leaving fans to wonder if he can avoid a stint in prison and successfully whisk his family away to Italy instead.
DNA Revelations and Political Fallout
Family mysteries will also take center stage as Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) seeks undeniable proof that newcomer Dominic Marino is indeed her biological son. Knowing that a mere birth certificate falls short of absolute truth, Marlena begins pushing for a definitive DNA test once Dominic officially arrives in Salem. Dominic makes an undeniable splash upon his arrival, moving straight into the Kiriakis mansion and making himself right at home as the property’s proud new owner. But will a DNA test eventually validate the maternal bond Marlena feels toward him?
Finally, the fallout from political favors threatens to destroy Paulina Price (Jackée Harry). While Lani Grant (Sal Stowers) secures her pardon, it appears to come at a devastating cost for her mother. Asking personal favors from the governor could launch Paulina directly into the center of a massive political scandal. As Paulina’s world begins to crumble under public scrutiny, the fallout might pave the way for Theo Carver (Tyler Joseph Andrews) to launch a mayoral campaign of his own—perhaps even at Paulina’s urgent insistence once the political fallout blows wide open.
With explosive traps being set, long-held secrets hanging by a thread, and multiple beloved Salemites heading for the exit doors, Salem is on the verge of total chaos. Will Alex catch Joy in her elaborate lie before she seals the deal, or will EJ’s games destroy those around him first?
