NCIS Season 23 Finally Completes Streaming Release as Tony DiNozzo’s Return and New Spin-Offs Shake Up the Universe

A Streaming Glitch Fixed for Milestone Season
International fans of television’s juggernaut naval procedural can finally breathe a sigh of relief. Following a brief bout of technical turbulence across the pond, all 20 episodes of NCIS Season 23 are officially available to stream on Disney+.
The season, which wrapped its original US broadcast run back in May, landed on the streaming platform on Thursday, October 1. However, eager viewers quickly noticed a frustrating hitch: seven episodes from throughout the season—specifically Episodes 2, 4, 6, 9, 15, 17, and 20—were entirely missing from the catalog. The platform rectified the omission on Friday, October 2, quietly uploading the missing installments and restoring the complete run for marathon binges.
Season 23 retains the powerhouse ensemble led by Gary Cole as Supervisory Special Agent Alden Parker, Sean Murray as Special Agent Timothy McGee, Katrina Law as Special Agent Jessica Knight, and Wilmer Valderrama as Special Agent Nicholas Torres. Rounding out the core team are fan favorites Brian Dietzen as Dr. Jimmy Palmer, Diona Reasonover as forensic scientist Kasie Hines, and Rocky Carroll as Director Leon Vance.
Milestone Episode 500 Delivers a Game-Changing Exit
The release of Season 23 brings one of the most significant milestones in broadcast television history to international audiences: the show’s 500th episode. True to the series’ reputation for high-stakes drama, the historic broadcast featured a shock exit for a major, long-standing member of the main cast.
Addressing the decision to write out a veteran character during such a monumental episode, executive producer Steven D. Binder revealed that the creative team deliberately aimed for maximum emotional impact. Binder explained that the goal was to send shockwaves through both the TV industry and the show’s dedicated fanbase, proving that even after two decades, NCIS can still catch its audience completely off guard.
Tony DiNozzo Returns as the Franchise Expands
While Season 23 delivers emotional farewells, the upcoming Season 24 promises a major homecoming for long-time fans. Franchise veteran Michael Weatherly is officially set to reprise his legendary role as Very Special Agent Tony DiNozzo for a season-long arc in the flagship series.
Weatherly’s return to the mothership comes shortly after the conclusion of NCIS: Tony & Ziva, the Europe-set spin-off co-starring Cote de Pablo, which wrapped its run after a single season. Despite that project ending, the broader NCIS television universe continues to expand rapidly across multiple fronts.
Alongside ongoing series NCIS: Sydney and the prequel drama NCIS: Origins, CBS is expanding the franchise’s footprint even further with the upcoming greenlight of NCIS: New York. The new entry will see LL Cool J reprise his beloved role as Sam Hanna alongside newcomer Scott Caan, who takes on the lead role of Nick Schaeffer.
With Season 23 now fully streaming and Season 24 preparing to bring back one of its most iconic original figures, the NCIS universe shows no signs of slowing down its reign over prime-time television.
