General Hospital Spoilers: Sonny Deploys Brick to Destroy Carly and Valentin’s Shocking Romance

The criminal underbelly of Port Charles is experiencing a sudden vacuum now that Rocco Falconeri (Finn Carr) is finally home, Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) is locked safely behind bars, and Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) is officially dead. However, the momentary peace is about to shatter as a deeply personal territorial war brews. General Hospital spoilers reveal that mob kingpin Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) is completely blinded by fury upon discovering that his ex-wife—and the mother of his young daughter Donna Corinthos (Scarlett Spears)—is officially dating the enigmatic Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart). Refusing to stand by and watch this romance blossom, Sonny is deploying his top tech expert on a highly volatile sabotage mission.

Sonny Refuses to Face Carly Directly

Any seasoned General Hospital viewer knows that trying to tell Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) what to do is an entirely futile exercise. Sonny has known her for decades and has walked down the aisle with her enough times to know better than anyone that she does exactly what she wants, completely independent of anyone else’s opinions.

This time, Sonny is looking at the situation strictly from the protective standpoint of a concerned father. He is acutely aware of Valentin’s highly unstable history, specifically how many times the Cassadine heir has been forced to go on the run, dragging young Charlotte Cassadine (Bluesy Burke) along for a childhood defined by instability. Sonny is also hyper-aware of how many dangerous enemies Valentin has accumulated in Port Charles—conveniently forgetting, of course, just how many lethal targets have been painted on his own back over the years!

Rather than confronting Carly directly about dating—and secretly living with—Valentin all those months, Sonny decides to play his cards carefully from the shadows. In his mind, it was bad enough when she was previously entangled with Jack Brennan (Chris L. McKenna). Now, with his own romance alongside Acting District Attorney Justine Turner (Nazneen Contractor) rapidly ramping up, Sonny knows that directly interfering in his ex-wife’s love life would look incredibly hypocritical and bound to end in disaster.

Brick Deploys a Dark Deep-Dive Into Valentin’s Past

Instead of a messy confrontation, Sonny turns to his trusted tech guru and investigator, Brick (Stephen A. Smith). Sonny knows that Carly harbors a deep trust for Brick, though whether she will actually listen to him remains a massive gamble. Sonny commands Brick to initiate a comprehensive deep-dive into the most egregious, dark crimes from Valentin’s past, hoping the cold hard data will shake some sense into her.

Sonny’s mind naturally drifts to his brief time married to Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros). He remembers vividly how deeply Valentin hurt her, particularly the unforgivable stunt where he hired an actress to pretend to be her long-lost biological daughter.

Ironically, given how Nina’s real biological daughters turned out, a strong argument could be made that she would have been vastly better off if Sasha Corbin (Sofia Mattsson) had simply continued playing the fake child indefinitely! Armed with this dark history, Brick heads out to execute his mission.

Unfazed Carly Defends Her Man and Sends a Blunt Warning

As completely predicted by anyone who understands Carly’s iron clad resolve, Brick’s highly toxic intel fails to faze her in the slightest. She absolutely refuses to break things off with Valentin. As it turns out, she already knows the vast majority of his dark history because Valentin was completely transparent and told her himself!

Carly immediately sees right through the play, fully suspecting that Sonny was the puppet master who put Brick up to this interrogation in the first place. Instead of backing down, she delivers a fierce defense of her partner and hands Brick a very specific message to pass directly back to his boss.

Carly firmly states that whatever else Valentin may be, she knows one undeniable truth: he is an excellent father. She freely admits to Brick that Valentin may be an unconventional parent, but she knows Charlotte incredibly well. Both she and Sonny know that Valentin would never intentionally place his daughter in any real danger—even if Charlotte has managed to get herself into plenty of trouble entirely on her own lately!

Sonny Goes Back to the Drawing Board

When a defeated Brick ultimately reports back to headquarters to detail his failed attempt to break the couple apart, Sonny is left thoroughly frustrated. Realizing that logic, past crimes, and parental concern have completely failed to register with Carly, the mob boss is forced to go right back to the drawing board to reassess his strategy.

Because his opening gambit crashed and burned, the show appears to be setting up a much darker trajectory. Viewers are wondering if Sonny will feel backed into a corner, potentially prompting him to take extreme measures to neutralize Valentin and force him out of Carly’s life for good.

Will Sonny’s obsession with controlling Carly’s love life destroy his emerging relationship with the Acting District Attorney, or will his next extreme move push Valentin and Carly into an even tighter alliance?
