Long-buried family ties and complicated personal histories are coming to the forefront in Port Charles as two long-lost siblings finally come face-to-face. According to General Hospital spoilers and updates, Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) will finally meet his maternal half-sister, Serena Baldwin (Kelly Kruger). The two are set to spend some quality time together, getting to know one another better. However, with both of their backgrounds steeped in scheming, viewers are wondering if the daughter of Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) and the late Dominique Stanton (Shell Danielson)—who was raised by Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring)—might end up being a dangerous, bad influence on her newly found brother.
A Stables Reunion and the Threat of Backsliding
As the son of Police Commissioner Mac Scorpio (John J. York), one might expect Cody to be a strict law-and-order guy. Yet, long before he embraced his Scorpio roots, Cody made his living as a con man. While neither Scott nor Dominique were career con artists in the traditional sense, Lucy has pulled off her fair share of schemes over the years, and Scott certainly possesses the skills when called upon.
Serena will visit Cody at his apartment in the Quartermaine stables, where the two will quickly discover they share a great deal in common beyond their late mother. Although Serena has a well-known penchant for saving dolphins, she is sure to take a liking to Outback and the rest of Tracy Quartermaine’s (Jane Elliot) horses.
However, Serena is far from innocent when it comes to pulling low-grade cons—such as the time Lucy convinced her to try to seduce Michael Corinthos’ (Rory Gibson) Deception shares away from him. This naturally raises the question of whether her arrival could cause Cody to backslide into his old habits.
Cody’s Transformation and His Secret-Keeping Habits
Between his full acceptance into Mac’s family and the steadying influence of Molly Lansing-Davis (Kristen Vaganos), Cody managed to leave his scheming past behind. It has been several years since he engaged in anything remotely illegal.
He was especially motivated by young James West (Gary James Fuller), wanting desperately to set a positive example for the little guy. Cody felt immense relief at being forgiven by James before the boy moved to Australia with his family.
While Mac and Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner) remain grounded in town, the rest of James’ family has moved away. Because of this distance, Cody is thrilled to connect with his maternal sister and hopes she will stick around Port Charles—a prospect that every indication suggests she will.
At the same time, Cody remains fully capable of keeping big secrets if he sees a valid reason for them. For instance, when it comes to Ric Lansing’s (Rick Hearst) true reason for “being away,” Cody kept quiet because Ric did not want Molly to find out, proving that Cody is more than willing to keep his mouth shut when necessary.
Shared Traumas, Animal Bonds, and Future Guidance
Because Cody is older than Serena, it seems entirely possible that he could step up to be a positive influence on her instead of the other way around. One thing is certain: the siblings will share a deep, mutual hatred for Rex Stanton (Wayne Northrop).
While Cody may never have known Rex personally, he has certainly heard about him, considering Rex was his great-uncle. Cody likely learned much of his mother’s tragic history through Mac. Rex was notoriously after Dominique’s money and even targeted Serena herself, kidnapping her when she was just a child. Although Cody never got to know his mother, he learned that Dominique gave him away shortly after birth to protect him from Leopold Taub (Chip Lucia).
As the two siblings open up, Cody and Serena will have plenty of heavy history to discuss. Cody will probably even wonder if Serena knows that he famously decked her father, Scott, when they first met in Port Charles. Despite that awkward history, every indication points to the pair relating exceptionally well to one another, particularly given their mutual, deep-seated love for animals.
