Vernon Dupree (Clifton Davis) refuses to let his wife face her current crisis alone as Anita Dupree (Tamara Tunie) faces the music regarding her health. Anita has been experiencing major struggles with her voice, which has seen far better days due to the harsh side effects of the cancer chemo treatment she had to undergo.
Determined to work her way back to her legendary Anita Williams-level of vocal greatness, Anita recently had to deliver the painful news to her fellow Articulettes that she could not perform on stage for the local Jazz Fest. However, the Wednesday preview hints that Anita is hit with a delicate situation requiring a desperate solution.
Anita reaches out to make a phone call to Leslie Thomas (Trisha Mann-Grant). Teasers reveal that Leslie receives an intriguing proposition as a result, leaving fans wondering what Anita will ask Leslie to do to save the day. Smitty’s Suspicions Spiral Over Lia’s Mysterious Death
Across town, Bradley “Smitty” Smith (Mike Manning) finds his investigative instincts on high alert. Smitty refuses to believe that Lia Whitmore (Cecelia Specht) took her own life. Having spoken with Lia just the day before her tragic passing, Smitty knows her state of mind better than anyone else, making him utterly skeptical of the official story.
As his suspicions spiral out of control, the sharp investigative reporter begins putting two and two together. Smitty comes to suspect that the notorious killer known as “The Impaler” was directly responsible for Lia’s demise.
With his mind working through the clues, Smitty considers the chilling possibility that “The Impaler” is actively lurking in the DMV area right now. The conclusions he is about to reach could put him on a direct collision course with extreme danger.

Meanwhile, September brings a painful anniversary that causes Deanna McBride’s (Angela Fairley) unresolved grief to resurface. September marks the month when her father, Doug McBride (Jason Graham), died tragically, leaving her emotionally raw.

Deanna’s internal struggle guarantees viewers are in for another haunting spectral confrontation between Deanna and a vision of her late father. In the video preview, “Doug” appears to his daughter, sternly reminding her that “payback is long overdue” against Joey.
However, Deanna gets caught off guard when Noah (Nick Hagelin) suddenly walks in on her as she is chatting with the thin air. Baffled by her strange behavior, Noah directly demands to know who she was talking to.
