Rumors continue to swirl that Jack Brennan, portrayed by fan-favorite actor Chris L. McKenna, will meet his end sometime this fall as WSB storylines heat up on General Hospital. However, viewers and insiders alike are left wondering: is Brennan really a done deal, or could agency head Z be orchestrated a massive deception, much like he did with Cassius Faison?
What makes this situation particularly curious is that neither Chris L. McKenna nor General Hospital has officially confirmed or acknowledged Brennan’s departure. While persistent rumors suggest McKenna may have leaked the news himself, the actor has not denied the reports either. Interestingly, McKenna still maintains “GH” and “Brennan” on his social media handles. This could simply be because he still has appearances in the can that were filmed prior to any exit, potentially including his onscreen departure scene.

Viewers can never forget the countless times Helena Cassadine “died” only to pop back up like a bad penny, or the shocking survival of young Jake Webber.
There are also the more unusual, high-concept survival situations, such as the predicament Drew was in when Robin Scorpio-Drake found him. Robin herself was another character long believed to have died in a tragic laboratory explosion, which was later revealed to be a cover-up for her kidnapping.
The WSB Blueprint: Could Z Fake Brennan’s Demise?
Long story short, even if Brennan is “killed off” during this upcoming fall arc, the writers can easily rewrite a dramatic return in the future. Given that his projected exit is expected to take place during WSB-heavy storylines, the agency’s involvement provides the ultimate narrative loophole.
Boss Z, played by John Oliver, could easily fake Brennan’s death using the exact same blueprint he utilized with Cassius Faison. A secret arrangement wouldn’t even need to be executed extensively onscreen; it could simply be revealed through offscreen mentions, similar to when Valentin Cassadine met with Z in Geneva. While nothing official has been announced or leaked by the network, Oliver has openly loved his soap opera appearances, meaning he would likely have no problem reprising his role as Z for a guest spot or two to pull off the twist.
If Brennan’s death is ultimately faked the way Cassius’ was, it would not be surprising at all if the two agents ended up working together behind the scenes. After all, staging elaborate deaths and keeping high-value operatives hidden in the shadows just seems to be the standard WSB way of doing business.
