General Hospital Spoilers: Could Tamara Braun Return as Kim Nero to Ground Drew Cain?

A Familiar Face Rumored for a Fall Return
Port Charles may soon be welcoming back a familiar face this coming fall, sparking intense speculation among daytime fans. With Tamara Braun recently wrapping up her stint on CBS’s The Young and the Restless and no word regarding a return to NBC/Peacock’s Days of Our Lives, viewers are naturally wondering if she could be heading back to General Hospital to reprise her role as Dr. Kim Nero.
As a skilled ob/gyn, Kim would find a natural home back on staff at General Hospital, where qualified doctors are always needed. But beyond her medical career, her deep emotional history in Port Charles means a potential comeback would send massive shockwaves through the canvas—especially for Drew Cain.
The Heartbreaking Legacy of Kim Nero, Drew Cain, and Julian Jerome
General Hospital viewers will recall that Kim shared a poignant history with Drew Cain as the mother of his late son, Oscar Nero. Oscar’s tragic death from a brain tumor shattered Kim, leaving her utterly devastated. The loss was equally painful for Josslyn Jacks, as Oscar was her very first boyfriend during a tender time in her young life. Following Oscar’s passing, a grief-stricken Kim attempted to seduce Drew in hopes of conceiving another child together. However, Drew was not interested, as he was focused on raising his young daughter, Scout Cain.
Desperate to fill the void of her loss, Kim engaged in a brief relationship with Julian Jerome, which eventually led to her having another child. She ultimately moved away from Port Charles, with the ABC soap last mentioning her as living in New York City. A photograph on her table showed her young son, whom she named Andy—a touching tribute to “Andrew.”
Could Kim Nero Be the Person Who Gets Drew Back to Normal?
Before Oscar’s heartbreaking illness and death, Kim was largely a grounded, stable presence, but grief and loss temporarily broke her spirit. Now, fans are speculating that Kim might be the exact anchor Drew needs in his life to return to normal. Drew’s personality has shifted dramatically from the man Kim knew prior to his kidnapping by Helena Cassadine.
Interestingly, Drew seems to have recovered at least some of his memories from before his memory transfer, having mentioned details about his high school days and hearing about the Quartermaines. It was even implied that he knew about his twin brother, Jason Morgan, though he never sought out the family to reveal himself at the time. Drew has also never mentioned his adoptive parents, leaving it unknown whether they passed away or what ultimately became of them.
While Kim certainly wrestled with her own severe emotional struggles in the past, she knew Drew during his foundational years. Given his turbulent journey, she could be uniquely suited to help ground him, even if he does not realize he needs her help right now.
Family Connections and Future Possibilities
If Kim were to return to Port Charles, it raises the question of why she hasn’t reached out sooner. After all, a former Navy SEAL turned Congressman suffering a stroke and paralysis would certainly make national news, not to mention the massive public attention surrounding him getting shot. However, it seems possible that Kim simply wanted to keep her young son safe from a world of unending turmoil.
Should Kim step back into Port Charles with young Andy in tow, the dynamic would create fascinating new family ties. Andy’s arrival would mean Lucas Jones gains a younger half-brother. Furthermore, Andy would likely be around the same age as Scout Cain. Bringing the two children together could prove deeply meaningful for both of them, particularly as they have both endured the loss of loved ones in recent years.
Do you think Kim Nero is the missing piece that could finally bring Drew Cain back to center, or would her arrival with Julian’s son only add more chaos to Port Charles?
