GH Fans Demand Immediate Maxie Recast Following Kirsten Storms Exit News

General Hospital Viewers Demand an Immediate Recast for Maxie Jones

Here’s my take: when a beloved daytime character vanishes, the ripple effects hit the entire canvas, and General Hospital fans have officially reached their boiling point. Viewers are now vocalizing a fierce demand for Maxie Jones to be recast, and they want to see a new face in Port Charles sooner rather than later.

The uproar stems from news that actress Kirsten Storms, who has portrayed the iconic fashionista for years on the hit ABC daytime drama, will no longer be returning to daytime television. Following recent comments made by Storms regarding her departure, fans are quite upset at the thought of losing Maxie permanently. Rather than leaving the character off the canvas, many dedicated viewers strongly believe the show must recast the role to keep her storylines alive.

For a large portion of the audience, benching Maxie feels fundamentally unfair to fellow cast members. Fans feel strongly that keeping Maxie offscreen penalizes actor Bradford Anderson, who plays Spinelli, as well as the young child actors attached to the household. Without Maxie on the canvas, these characters risk losing valuable screen time and momentum.

Fan Reactions: Screen Time, Poisoned Face Cream, and Missing Storylines

It didn’t take long for the General Hospital community to chime in on social media and comment boards regarding the situation. Many feel that Kirsten Storms’s decision not to return should not mean the end of Maxie’s presence in Port Charles.

One fan pointed out the necessity of a recast to resolve ongoing plotlines, noting, “May as well, I really like the current Maxie character but if she’s not coming back, by all means recast especially if there’s a story, they need to find out that Sidwell put poison in the face cream that put her in a coma.”

Others feel that the character of Maxie itself is too vital to the fabric of the show to leave vacant. “Please cast an unknown for Maxie, who has the talent, to portray the essence of maxie is my vote. The maxie character has been missing for so long and is relevant to general hospital,” another viewer commented.

The collateral damage to the rest of the Jones-Spinelli family unit remains a major sticking point for critics. As one fan expressed, “I will hate not seeing Spinelli! Bradford is one of my faves. I also really like the kid who plays James. They’ve tragically underutilized Georgie who should be part of the Scooby Doo crowd (the teens.) She and Charlotte could have a nice friendship that grows over the years.”

Can General Hospital Pull Off Another Successful Recast?

While replacing a long-term actor is always a gamble, viewers point to recent casting triumphs as proof that lighting can strike twice. Several fans cited the show’s recent handling of Lulu Spencer’s return as reason for optimism, with one writing, “Lulu’s recast was done sooo well!! I have faith they can recast Maxie and bring back an entire area of the show that’s missed.”

Given that Kirsten Storms is not returning, many viewers see a clear path forward for executive producer Frank Valentini and the writing team. “With KS’ recent comments, I see no reason why they can’t recast Maxie with someone who could sign a long contract and stay onscreen for a while,” suggested another loyal watcher.

A recast could allow the show to wake Maxie from her coma, solve the mystery of Jenz Sidwell’s poisoned face cream, and restore Spinelli and the kids to active storylines. However, whether the powers that be at ABC intend to search for a new Maxie remains to be seen.

For now, General Hospital viewers will simply have to tune in weekdays on ABC to find out how the show addresses Maxie’s absence. Should ABC bring in a fresh talent to sign a long-term contract as Maxie Jones, or should the character remain offscreen for the foreseeable future?
