Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Furious Johnny Accuses EJ of Planting Drugs as a Heartbroken Holly is Blocked from Going Home

A devastating wave of corporate sabotage, cruel frame-ups, and heartbreaking family separations is about to rip through Salem. The newly released Days of Our Lives promotional video for the week of July 20-24, 2026, has officially dropped, and the footage promises an emotionally explosive five days. From the sterile hallways of University Hospital to the grand living room of the DiMera mansion, lives are being upended as an innocent young woman pays the price for a powerful man’s greed—igniting a fierce war between a father and his son.
Leo stumbles Onto a Clue Regarding Gwen’s Disappearance
The high-stakes weekly preview kicks off at the Salem Inn, where an unsuspecting Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) walks into a vacant hotel room. Upon noticing a staff member actively working inside the space, a perplexed Leo observes:
“Would you look at that, her bed is still turned down.”
Leo notes aloud that the pristine sheets likely mean that “she” never actually came home last night. While the maid goes about her duties, Leo is left to process the unsettling scene. It appears highly likely that he is referring to Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien), who was shockingly snatched away by kidnappers during the Friday, July 17 broadcast. Viewers are left wondering how long it will take for the eccentric Leo to put the pieces together and figure out that Gwen has officially gone missing.
Holly’s Homecoming Dreams Are Crushed by a Grim Discovery
Meanwhile, the emotional drama shifts directly to the hospital, where Holly Jonas (Ashley Puzemis) is initially riding a wave of pure excitement. Believing her medical ordeal is finally behind her, she happily looks at Sarah Horton (Lindsey Godfrey) and Tate Black (Leo Howard) and asks if she is finally cleared to go home.
Unfortunately, her joy comes to an abrupt and painful end. Both Sarah and Tate greet her question with incredibly stern, unyielding expressions. Delivering a crushing blow, Sarah flatly responds:
“No, honey, you can’t.”
When a bewildered Holly demands to know exactly why her release is being denied, Sarah pulls out the stash of pills that Tate originally uncovered in Holly’s bag on Friday. Sarah makes it heartbreakingly clear that these illicit substances are the sole reason she is staying put. Later in the preview, a completely devastated Holly is shown exiting the hospital entirely on her own, crying bitter tears as her support system crumbles.
Gabi Pulls the Rug Out from Titan While Kristen Bids a Tearful Farewell
Over in the business sector, corporate warfare is reaching a fever pitch. Gabi Hernandez (Cherie Jimenez) is shown in a high-tension meeting alongside a stunned Xander Kiriakis (Paul Telfer) and Philip Kiriakis (John-Paul Lavoisier). Any hopes of a smooth financial rescue are instantly obliterated when Gabi angrily informs the executives that she is officially rescinding her lucrative offer to bail out Titan Industries. Both Kiriakis men look completely paralyzed and utterly devastated by her sudden boardroom retreat.
At the exact same time, a deeply emotional family tragedy is unfolding over at Bayview. Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) is shown holding young Rachel Black (Lorelei Oliva Mote) in a fiercely tight, desperate embrace. With a visibly dismayed Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) watching the heartbreaking scene play out from the sidelines, an incredibly tearful Kristen pours her heart out to her daughter, telling Rachel:
“You’re my greatest treasure. I want your life to be bright and beautiful.”
It appears that Kristen is preparing to permanently disappear from Salem on her own terms—crafting a swift escape plan to vanish completely before her ruthless brother, EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel), can have her forcibly removed himself!
Johnny Corners EJ in a Scorching DiMera House Showdown
Kristen’s fears of her brother are certainly justified, as EJ’s calculated ruthlessness is about to trigger a massive domestic war. As the weekly promo draws to a close, EJ is cornered in the DiMera mansion living room by a furious Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman).
Refusing to back down, an indignant EJ demands to know exactly what his son is accusing him of. Johnny doesn’t pull a single punch, looking his father dead in the eye and firing back:
“I think you can guess. You planted those drugs in her bag, didn’t you?”
Johnny is entirely disgusted by the realization that EJ would stoop so low as to target an innocent girl like Holly just to further his own agenda. Days of Our Lives spoilers hint that if he is pushed past his breaking point, a righteous Johnny may end up completely outing EJ to the rest of Salem. After all, protecting the family empire and covering up the shady dealings of DiMera Pharmaceuticals is one thing, but what EJ is doing to ruin Holly’s life is an absolute outrage that Johnny cannot ignore.
What do you think, Days of Our Lives fans? Will Johnny actually follow through on his threat to expose EJ’s crimes to save Holly, and can Leo track down Gwen before it’s too late? Share your thoughts and burning predictions in the comments section below!
