On General Hospital, the walls are rapidly closing in on “Wicked” Willow Cain (Katelyn MacMullen). With her leverage slipping away, her drug supply completely depleted, and her victim slowly regaining his voice, viewers are left wondering: will Willow take the ultimate, lethal step to permanently silence Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison)?
Willow Is Frantic: The Paralytic Is Running Out!
Willow is currently trapped in a high-stakes nightmare of her own making. The specialized paralytic drug she has been using to keep Drew in a helpless, locked-in state is rapidly running out, and her avenues for securing more have completely vanished. Her primary supplier, Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota), is currently locked away in jail. To make matters worse, for all Willow knows, Sidwell was originally sourcing the compound from Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes)—who is now very much dead.
Without a supplier, Willow is completely powerless to stop Drew’s impending awakening. The terrifying reality of her situation hit home recently when Drew began flexing his fingers. His recovery first became apparent on the day his dose was delayed—an accident that occurred after Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) mistakenly jabbed Jack Brennan (Chris L. McKenna) with the syringe instead. During that brief window of delay, Drew was actually able to move a little, proving that the drug’s hold on him is entirely dependent on a continuous, uninterrupted supply.
If Drew fully recovers his ability to speak before she can secure more of the drug, he will tell the authorities and her family everything.
While Willow may technically be safe from prosecution regarding Drew’s shooting due to double jeopardy, she has no protection against the rest of his devastating knowledge. Drew knows she has been systematically drugging him to fake a stroke, he knows she has been actively working with the dangerous Jenz Sidwell, and he knows she has been blackmailing Jack Brennan. If he talks, her life is effectively over.
Drew’s Rapid Recovery and His Secret Alliances
Despite the obstacles, Drew is mounting a rapid recovery, slowly but surely clawing his way back to mobility. In the July 15th episode, he achieved a massive breakthrough by managing to audibly speak Willow’s name.
He is also becoming increasingly clever about hiding his progress from his captor. Earlier, Drew managed to knock Willow’s medical bag off a table to disrupt her plans. While Kai Taylor (Jenz Austin Astrup) noticed the suspicious movement, Drew quickly and desperately swore Kai to absolute silence.
Drew’s secret recovery almost came to light in a major way when Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson) brought young Wiley and Amelia Corinthos (Viron Weaver, and Serenity and Sequoia Mork Macko) over for a visit. Little Amelia wandered over to the door of Drew’s room and waved at him. Wiley quickly followed to steer her away, reminding her they weren’t supposed to be in there. In that fleeting moment, Drew actually waved back at the children and made a subtle “shushing” gesture, warning them to keep his newfound physical mobility a secret.
Michael’s Long Game for Sole Custody
While Willow scrambles to keep Drew quiet to protect her relationship with her children, her husband is working on a quiet betrayal of his own. Willow previously threatened to kill Drew if he did anything to compromise her custody of the kids. Ideally, Willow wants sole custody of Wiley and Amelia.
However, Michael is secretly fighting her every step of the way. Playing a calculated, patient long game, Michael’s ultimate goal is to secure sole custody of the children for himself, with no visitation rights granted to Willow. Michael has reached a point where he simply does not trust Willow with their children. Furthermore, he trusts the compromised Drew even less. Michael firmly believes that regardless of Drew’s locked-in state, it is deeply unhealthy for the young children to witness their family member in such a deteriorating, tragic condition.
The Missing Black Box: A Sarcastic Suggestion Turns Deadly?
Adding fuel to the fire, Jack Brennan previously suggested to Willow—likely with heavy sarcasm—that she could always just kill Drew to solve her mounting problems. At the time, she was relying on finding Brennan’s highly coveted black box to maintain her leverage, but that hope has officially been shattered.
In the July 15th episode, a mystery man—whom fans suspect is likely Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart)—stumbled upon the black box and slipped away with it. With her ultimate bargaining chip gone and her drug supply completely dry, Willow’s back is firmly against the wall.
