Lucas Jones and Britt Westbourne are both facing a sudden housing crisis, prompting fans to wonder if these two are destined to become the town’s newest roommates. While they haven’t exactly been the closest of friends in the past, their shared history and mutual struggles could pave the way for an unexpected, supportive alliance.
Lucas Drowns in Self-Blame Over Marco’s Death
Before any packing boxes can be taped up, Lucas has some massive emotional hurdles to overcome. He is currently beating himself up over his well-intentioned attempts to help Britt, which ultimately took a tragic turn. Lucas blames himself for the death of Marco Rios, who died while attempting to steal Britt’s medication.
Thankfully, Lucas has a solid support system trying to pull him out of his spiral. Elizabeth Baldwin and several of his close friends have been working overtime to reassure him that he bears no responsibility for the tragedy. Instead, the ultimate blame for this entire mess lies squarely at the feet of the late, sinister Ross Cullum.
“It was Ross Cullum who set this nightmare in motion, gaslighting Britt for years and ultimately taking Marco’s life.”
Cullum was the monster who murdered Marco and very nearly killed Britt. In a bizarre twist of fate, Cassius Faison was completely in the dark about the fact that Cullum had laced the syringes he sent with lethal poison. Ironically, both the brother and sister believe each other to be dead when they are actually very much alive—but as any seasoned viewer knows, that is a wild story for another day.
A Crucial Conversation at Bobbie’s Cafe
The practical realities of their situations will finally take center stage during the Monday, July 13 episode of General Hospital. A newly released promo shows Lucas and Britt sitting down for an intense heart-to-heart at Bobbie’s Cafe. The two are highly likely to address the massive shock of Britt’s recent medical misdiagnosis, alongside her relief at finally being released from jail.
However, once the dust settles on her legal and medical updates, the conversation is bound to turn to their highly complicated living situations. Neither of them has a permanent place to call home right now.
Lucas has made it abundantly clear that he has no intention of returning to Wyndemere—and frankly, no one can blame him. Similarly, staying at the house where Jenz Sidwell was arrested is entirely out of the question. Even though Sidwell is currently sitting behind bars awaiting trial for his attempt on Lucas’s life and various other crimes, the property holds far too many dark memories.
Ruling Out Carly’s Overcrowded House
As Lucas weighs his options, moving in with his sister, Carly Spencer, seems entirely off the table. Carly’s place is already incredibly crowded now that Valentin Cassadine is staying there.
Furthermore, Lucas is far too proud and polite to impose on his sister by asking her to bankroll a luxurious, long-term suite at the Metro Court. He needs a realistic, independent solution, and it might be waiting for him right under his nose.
The very café where they are having their chat is part of Lucas’s birthright. The landmark establishment was originally run by his adoptive mother, Bobbie Spencer, and before that, his Aunt Ruby Spencer. Bobbie, who also dedicated her life to nursing, left behind a legacy that Lucas holds incredibly dear. Because the cafe was lovingly renamed in Bobbie’s honor after her passing, it is highly likely that there is a vacant room upstairs that Lucas could easily claim.
Could Lucas and Britt Share the Space?
Since Britt is also displaced, the stage is perfectly set for a roommate compromise. Britt had temporarily been crashing in Jason Morgan’s old room above the café, but that arrangement was a temporary courtesy extended by Jason while he was staying over at the Quartermaine mansion.
While a shared living arrangement between Lucas and Britt might feel a bit small and slightly awkward at first, these two frenemies might decide that crashing together is their best temporary option.
In a fascinating twist of social dynamics, the arrangement carries some highly entertaining undertones. Brad Cooper—the ex-husband of Lucas and once-upon-a-time best friend to Britt—has surprisingly evolved into a solid friend to Britt. Navigating those mutual connections while sharing a tight living space could easily lead to some classic Port Charles complications.
